Sindh Reviews Energy Projects for Affordable Electricity

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh’s Minister for Energy, Development, and Planning, chaired a significant Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC) meeting to assess essential energy sector projects.

Saleem Shaikh, STDC CEO, delivered a thorough overview of the advancements made on current projects. The energy minister emphasized STDC’s crucial role in providing cost-effective electricity, benefiting both residential and commercial consumers.

He noted that STDC is engaged in various initiatives to guarantee a reliable power supply to industrial zones, which will aid industrialists and contribute to economic stability.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also informed the assembly that STDC will collaborate with the Water Corporation on the K-IV Water Project’s electricity component, with the grid and transmission line scheduled for completion by June 2026.

He emphasized the consistent supply of 100 MW of electricity from the Nooriabad Power Plant, and STDC’s provision of continuous power to K-Electric via the K-IV transmission line. The minister expressed satisfaction with the Nooriabad transmission line’s effectiveness.

Energy Secretary Mushtaq Soomro, STDC CEO Saleem Shaikh, Umar Nawaz Shaikh, Sajjad Junejo, Tariq Saeed, along with other officials, were present at the meeting.

Furthermore, the meeting sanctioned a salary increase for STDC personnel. The minister instructed that, following Sindh government regulations, lower-level employees should receive a larger raise than officers, offering greater assistance to lower-income staff.

The energy minister further urged STDC officials to improve their abilities and performance.
