Mikal Bridges Inks $150 Million Extension with Knicks
New York Knicks forward Mikal Bridges has reportedly reached an agreement for a four-year, $150 million contract extension with the team, according to recent reports.
Sources indicate the deal incorporates a player option for the 2029-30 season and a trade kicker. These provisions mean Bridges cannot be traded for a half-year following the extension’s signing. His existing contract with the Knicks was set to expire after the 2025-26 season.
The new agreement represents a slight reduction from his maximum possible extension of $156 million. By accepting a somewhat lower salary, Bridges provides the Knicks with increased flexibility to bolster their roster for a potential playoff push.
Bridges joined the Knicks last summer in a significant trade that saw the team send four unprotected first-round picks and one protected first-round selection to the Brooklyn Nets.
During the previous regular season, Bridges started all 82 games for the Knicks, averaging 17.6 points while shooting 50% from the field, including 35.4% from beyond the arc.
In the playoffs, Bridges continued to be a key contributor, averaging 15.6 points on 45.6% shooting, along with 1.7 steals per game.
Throughout his seven-year career, which includes stints with Phoenix (2018-23), Brooklyn (2022-24), and New York, Bridges has maintained an average of 14.8 points per game.
He delivered several critical plays during the postseason. Notably, he recorded multiple double-digit fourth-quarter performances in the series against the Celtics and made crucial defensive stops in the final moments of Games 1 and 2, where the Knicks completed consecutive 20-point comeback victories.
