Brentford Stands Firm on Player Valuations
Brentford has reportedly turned down Manchester United’s $85.7 million bid for their star forward, Bryan Mbeumo, according to international reports released this Saturday.
Sources indicate the proposal, which featured additional incentives tied to performance, did not align with Brentford’s financial expectations. It is understood that the club is seeking a transfer fee exceeding £65 million for the Cameroonian player.
Mbeumo has reportedly become a primary target for Manchester United, who are looking to bolster their offensive capabilities under the direction of their new coach, Ruben Amorim.
The forward’s exceptional performance in the 2024/25 Premier League season, where he scored 20 goals, has significantly increased his market value.
Brentford has maintained a rigid stance, asserting they will only consider offers that meet their valuation for key team members.
Manchester United, while keen to finalize the deal, is supposedly wary of overspending and has emphasized its commitment to ‘disciplined’ negotiation tactics.
Despite the initial rejection, Manchester United apparently remains optimistic about Mbeumo’s interest in transferring to Old Trafford.
Further discussions between the two clubs are anticipated, with the hope of achieving a consensus prior to the commencement of United’s pre-season training scheduled for July 7.
Earlier this summer, Manchester United completed a notable acquisition by activating Matheus Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause to acquire the striker from Wolverhampton Wanderers. While Cunha registered 15 league goals last season, he is a year older than Mbeumo.
Manchester United views Mbeumo as a player who could provide greater long-term benefits and enhanced attacking prowess. While Brentford is taking a firm negotiating position, sources suggest that a potential compromise might be possible as the transfer window progresses.
Presently, United’s pursuit of Mbeumo continues, marked by both determination and prudence.
