Manchester United Clinches Deal for Matheus Cunha
Manchester United has reportedly reached an agreement with Wolves to acquire Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha for a transfer fee of £62.5 million.
Cunha is poised to be United’s inaugural acquisition of the summer transfer window. He is expected to sign a five-year contract, which includes an option for an additional 12-month extension.
The formalization of the agreement is scheduled after the Brazilian international concludes his international commitments with Brazil later this month, pending visa clearance and registration protocols.
Brazil is scheduled to face Ecuador in a World Cup qualifying match this Thursday.
It is understood that United committed to fulfilling the release clause embedded in Cunha’s contract at Molineux last week. The payment will be distributed over the subsequent two years through scheduled installments.
Cunha is set to be the most significant signing for United under Ruben Amorim, after the additions of Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu.
The Red Devils, who are in the process of revitalizing their attacking options, reportedly missed out on another target, Liam Delap, who is expected to join Chelsea.
Cunha distinguished himself as a key player for Wolves, registering 15 goals and six assists in the Premier League last season. Notably, no United player equaled his scoring record.
Amorim’s pursuit of Cunha is viewed as a strategic move to augment United’s attacking capabilities.
Concurrently, team captain Bruno Fernandes has received a substantial offer from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal. While the Portuguese midfielder is contemplating the proposition, Amorim remains optimistic about retaining his services.
