Mbeumo Expresses Excitement Over Joining Manchester United, Citing Childhood Dream
Manchester United formally declared the acquisition of forward Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford on Monday. The contract extends until 2030 and includes an option for a further extension.
Reports indicate that United has disbursed £65 million ($88 million) for the 25-year-old player, with a possible £6 million in additional performance-related incentives.
Mbeumo distinguished himself during the 2024–25 Premier League season, netting 20 goals, a figure surpassed only by Mohamed Salah (29), Alexander Isak (23), and Erling Haaland (22). His contributions were instrumental in Brentford’s commendable 10th-place finish.
The Cameroon international, born in France, is anticipated to debut for Manchester United during their preseason tour of the United States. The team, led by Ruben Amorim, is scheduled to depart on Tuesday, with matches planned in Chicago, New York, and Atlanta.
Reflecting on his transfer, Mbeumo conveyed that joining Manchester United represents the realization of a long-held aspiration.
Mbeumo stated, “Upon learning of the possibility of joining Manchester United, I felt compelled to seize the chance to sign with the club of my dreams, the team I supported as a child.”
The player also brings versatility to the team, having excelled as a right winger and demonstrating the capability to play as a centre forward.
He further commented, “My objective is continuous self-improvement. I am confident in my ability to elevate my game here, benefiting from the guidance of manager Ruben Amorim and collaborating with elite players.”
Recognized for his adaptability, Mbeumo flourished as a right winger at Brentford while also leaving a mark when positioned as a centre forward. He was a starter in every league game of the previous season, highlighting his consistency and versatility.
