Building Collapse in Lyari Devastates Families

A catastrophic building collapse in Karachi’s Lyari vicinity has brought immense suffering to numerous families, resulting in a tragic loss of life and leaving survivors mourning their loved ones and shattered dreams.

Many individuals have suffered the loss of siblings, while others grieve the passing of their family’s primary income provider.

Among those impacted is the family of 15-year-old Zaid, whose remains were the final ones recovered from the debris. His father and brother, Shoaib, had previously been discovered deceased.

Zaid’s two remaining brothers and his mother are in profound shock and experiencing intense sorrow.

Zaid’s uncle, Javed Khaskheli, questioned the authorities’ conduct, stating, “If a notice was issued, why weren’t the gas and electricity services disconnected?”

“They should have involved law enforcement and secured the premises. Instead, they merely arrive, record videos, and depart. Produce the notice. Where is it?”

Zaid’s brother described the incident as an unparalleled catastrophe for his family, as they have lost both their father and two brothers. He also stated that valuable personal items and funds were not returned following the building’s disintegration.

Families affected, like Zaid’s, are advocating for justice and seeking restitution for the loss of life and possessions. They are imploring the government to pursue strict measures against the responsible departments and ensure that such carelessness does not precipitate further misfortunes.
