Lucky Cement’s New Clinker Line Commences Operations in Iraq
Lucky Cement Limited announced the commencement of operations for its latest clinker production line at Najmat Al-Samawah (NAS) in Samawah, Iraq, effective May 13.
The company communicated this development in a formal notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
Back in May 2023, Lucky Cement and Iraq’s Al-Shumookh group decided to increase their clinker manufacturing capacity by introducing a fresh production line capable of producing 1.82 million tons annually (MTPA) in Samawah, Iraq.
“We are delighted to report that the kiln for the aforementioned clinker line was successfully activated on May 13, 2024,” the company stated.
Additionally, Lucky Cement mentioned in its PSX notice that they are also constructing a new cement grinding facility at NAS, which will have an annual production capacity of 0.65 million tons.
“Construction is advancing swiftly, with commissioning of this cement line anticipated within the first six months of fiscal year 2026,” the notification detailed.
The company anticipates that the clinker capacity expansion will lead to a larger market presence in Iraq, facilitating an increased supply of cement to the local market once the new cement grinding plant is operational.
Furthermore, Lucky Cement added that any surplus clinker produced at the facility will be marketed and sold within Iraq.
Lucky Cement Limited, established in Pakistan in 1993, possesses a broad and varied business portfolio that encompasses local and international cement operations, automobiles, chemicals, agricultural sciences, mobile phone assembly, and energy.
