Liverpool Reportedly Makes Substantial Offer for Alexander Isak
International media sources reported on Tuesday that Liverpool Football Club has approached Newcastle United with a staggering £120 million bid to acquire the services of striker Alexander Isak.
Reports indicate that while Liverpool holds a strong interest in Isak, recognizing Newcastle’s position on the matter, a formal offer has not yet been presented.
Liverpool’s admiration for Isak stems from his impressive performance last season, where he concluded the campaign as the second-highest scorer in the league, just behind Mohamed Salah, with an impressive tally of 23 goals.
Since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £60 million, Isak has played in 109 games, scoring 62 goals. His contribution was also vital in the team’s Carabao Cup victory in March, marking the club’s first major title in 70 years.
The Magpies are reluctant to part ways with their prized player and are reportedly considering Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike as a potential addition to their attacking lineup, envisioning him playing alongside Isak.
British media indicates that Newcastle’s initial bid of £70 million for Ekitike was turned down on Tuesday.
Liverpool, having recently broken their transfer record to secure Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, would likely need to increase their offer to persuade Newcastle to approve Isak’s transfer this summer.
Earlier reports on Tuesday revealed Liverpool’s pursuit of a striker, with discussions regarding Darwin Nunez’s potential departure expected to intensify.
Nunez has been linked with potential moves to Napoli and Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Simultaneously, reports suggest that Liverpool has rejected Bayern Munich’s €67.5 million offer for Luis Diaz.
The German champions, however, remain confident that the Colombian winger is interested in joining their ranks and are anticipated to return with an improved bid for the 28-year-old.
Since his arrival from Porto in January 2022, Diaz has become an indispensable asset at Anfield. His most recent campaign was his most prolific with Liverpool, as he netted 17 goals across all competitions and played a crucial role in Liverpool’s title-winning season, where they finished 10 points ahead.
Liverpool is unwilling to sell the 28-year-old and has communicated that they are not open to further offers.
