Liverpool Eyes Alexander Isak, Considers Hugo Ekitike
Reports indicate that Liverpool is keen on acquiring Newcastle United’s forward, Alexander Isak, this summer. The potential transfer hinges on negotiations between the two clubs, according to international media outlets.
Earlier this week, Liverpool reportedly made an offer of £120 million to Newcastle United for Isak. However, Newcastle is believed to be hesitant to part with their key player.
Sources suggest that Liverpool is aware of Newcastle’s position but was prepared to offer a record-breaking fee within Britain to secure the striker’s services during this transfer window.
With Darwin Nunez not fully meeting expectations, Arne Slot’s team is reportedly in search of a forward to bolster their squad. Should Liverpool fail to secure Alexander Isak, they might turn their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
Having already set a new transfer record with the acquisition of Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, Liverpool may face challenges in convincing Newcastle to permit Isak’s departure this summer.
In related news, Liverpool has allegedly turned down Bayern Munich’s €67.5m bid for Luis Diaz.
Despite Liverpool’s rejection, the German club reportedly believes that the Colombian winger is interested in joining them and has renewed their pursuit of the 28-year-old.
Since arriving from Porto in January 2022, Diaz has become an integral component of Liverpool’s setup. His previous season was his most prolific with Liverpool, as he scored 17 goals across all competitions and played a significant role in Liverpool’s successful title campaign.
Liverpool is reportedly firm in its stance against selling the 28-year-old and is said to be uninterested in considering further offers.
