Karachi Weather Update: Chance of Light Rain, Heatwave Conditions
Karachi residents may find some relief from the persistent heat as there’s a possibility of light rainfall or drizzle in certain areas tonight (Wednesday) and continuing into tomorrow morning. This is primarily attributed to the ongoing influence of marine cloud cover.
According to weather forecasts, the sea breeze is maintaining its usual flow, with speeds fluctuating between 25 and 35 kilometers per hour. The forecast indicates partly cloudy skies for the majority of the day.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has stated that the maximum daytime temperature in Karachi could range from 34 to 36 degrees Celsius today. However, elevated humidity levels may cause the perceived temperature to feel significantly higher, potentially reaching between 40 and 43 degrees Celsius.
Eid ul Adha Weather Outlook
The weather authority has projected that predominantly hot and arid conditions are expected to prevail across most of the country’s plains during the Eid ul Adha period.
The department also noted that moist air currents are extending into the northeastern regions of Pakistan. Furthermore, a westerly weather system is anticipated to affect the northern areas around June 3.
Due to this weather pattern, the PMD has issued a forecast for duststorms, rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, isolated instances of heavy rainfall, and potential hailstorms in various locations.
- These areas include Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat.
- Also included are Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad, with these conditions expected from June 2 to 5, with intermittent breaks.
The PMD further mentioned that rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is also predicted for the Eid period in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, and Mansehra.
Advisory
The Met Office cautioned that strong winds, hailstorms, and lightning could potentially cause damage to vulnerable structures such as electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels in the upper and central parts of the nation.
Farmers are being advised to carefully manage their agricultural activities in consideration of the anticipated weather conditions.
The PMD has urged the public, particularly commuters and tourists, to adopt necessary precautions during this period of weather activity.
