Khabib Announces Usman’s Fight Details and Makhachev’s Title Bout

UFC icon Khabib Nurmagomedov, who mentors Islam Makhachev, has revealed that Makhachev is slated to compete against Jack Della Maddalena for the UFC welterweight title this November.

Makhachev, a former UFC champion, relinquished his lightweight title in May to transition to the welterweight division, a decision made following Belal Muhammad’s loss to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315.

According to Nurmagomedov, Makhachev’s longtime mentor and trainer, his team has reached an agreement with the UFC for Makhachev to challenge Della Maddalena next.

Khabib addressed Makhachev’s future on Saturday night, seemingly directing his comments toward Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, implying that he might not have wanted this information disclosed.

“Ali is not happy because I’m giving information,” the UFC Hall of Famer stated.

“However, this agreement is between Ali and the UFC. I don’t handle UFC matters; that’s his domain.

“We have a deal with the UFC. Makhachev will be fighting at Madison Square Garden. They have confirmed it.”

The UFC’s annual event is scheduled to return to Madison Square Garden on Saturday, November 15, although specific details are yet to be finalized.

Islam Makhachev boasts a 15-fight winning streak in the UFC and aims to solidify his legacy as a two-division champion.

Khabib also shared insights into his cousin, PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov’s upcoming fight against Paul Hughes.

“Usman is an exceptional fighter,” Khabib remarked.

“He will be competing on October 4 in Dubai, facing the same opponent from their previous encounter.

“It was a challenging fight, and we anticipate seeing how he performs in the rematch.”
