Rabada Ruled Out of ODI Series Against Australia Due to Injury
CAIRNS: In a significant blow to South Africa’s campaign, premier fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has been sidelined for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia due to an ankle injury.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced that the 30-year-old pacer was diagnosed with inflammation in his right ankle following scans conducted in Cairns. He will remain in Australia to undergo a rehabilitation program overseen by the Proteas’ medical team.
“Proteas men’s fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia because of inflammation in his right ankle,” CSA stated formally.
“He underwent a scan on Monday, which confirmed the degree of the injury. He is set to stay in Australia and undergo rehabilitation under the care of the Proteas medical personnel.”
The series commenced on Tuesday, August 19, at Cazalys Stadium in Cairns. In Rabada’s absence, South Africa has chosen a pace attack that includes Lungi Ngidi, Nandre Burger, and all-rounder Wiaan Mulder. The subsequent matches are scheduled for Mackay on August 22 and 24.
