Kenya’s Inflation Rate Climbs to 4.1% in April

The Kenyan National Bureau of Statistics announced that Kenya’s inflation rate reached 4.1% year-on-year in April. This represents an increase from the 3.6% recorded in the previous month.

According to the official statement, the monthly inflation rate for April was calculated at 0.3%.

While Kenya’s inflation has seen a gradual rise from its lowest point of 2.7% in October, it is still within the central bank’s acceptable range of 2.5% to 7.5%.

The Kenyan shilling remained stable amid limited market activity.

Earlier in April, the Central Bank of Kenya made a surprising move by lowering its policy interest rate for the fifth consecutive time to 10.0%. This action is intended to further encourage lending within the private sector.
