Karachi and Dubai Bolster Economic Ties with Landmark MoU
In a move poised to enhance economic cooperation, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) Dubai formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday. This agreement aims to cultivate strong bilateral collaboration in trade, investment, and economic partnerships by forging strategic connections between the business sectors of Karachi and Dubai.
The official signing of the MoU occurred at the KCCI headquarters, with KCCI President Muhammad Jawed Bilwani and PBC Dubai Chairman Shabbir Merchant representing their respective organizations.
The ceremony saw the attendance of prominent figures including Senior Vice President of KCCI Zia ul Arfeen, Vice President Faisal Khalil Ahmed, Chairman of the Special Committee to Implement MoUs Junaid Esmail Makda, Executive Advisor of PBC Dubai Mustafa Hemani, Former Vice President of KCCI Haris Agar, alongside members of the KCCI Managing Committee.
Key Objectives of the Partnership
President Jawed Bilwani highlighted the significance of reinforcing economic ties and detailed the core aspects of the MoU. He stated, “This alliance signifies a focused endeavor to amplify cooperation in trade and investment through tangible steps like exchanging trade missions, joint ventures in global exhibitions and trade shows, and collaborative organization of business seminars, workshops, and networking events.”
He further noted that both entities have pledged to exchange timely and pertinent details regarding trade regulations, legal structures, and commercial practices within their respective domains.
Additionally, the agreement specifies mutual support for streamlining business visa procedures, providing logistical aid for visiting trade delegations, and encouraging B2B engagement via online platforms.
Jawed Bilwani commended PBC Dubai’s initiative to introduce a specialized website and mobile application designed to facilitate B2B matchmaking, thereby enabling businesses to efficiently locate potential allies. He emphasized that such resources are crucial for boosting interaction among entrepreneurs and investors in both markets.

Chairman Shabbir Merchant of PBC Dubai emphasized the importance of this agreement for the business communities in both nations, asserting that the MoU will serve as a vital link between Karachi and Dubai and establish a foundation for sustained economic advancement. He added, “It will promote significant business partnerships, eliminate obstacles, and simplify business operations for entrepreneurs and investors on both sides.”
