Major Fire at Karachi Shopping Center Contained
A significant fire that ignited at a shopping complex situated on Abdullah Haroon Road in Karachi has been successfully brought under control, officials have verified.
Firefighters, utilizing six fire department vehicles and a specialized snorkel apparatus, were able to put out the flames following several hours of intensive firefighting efforts.
A fire department official stated that the fire was contained through the utilization of six fire brigade vehicles in conjunction with a snorkel.
“Our dedicated teams worked relentlessly to suppress the blaze,” the official commented. “Thankfully, there were no fatalities as a result of this event.”
The fire had broken out on the fourth level of the building, which contains numerous businesses and garment storage facilities, according to reports.
The official noted that confirming the precise quantity of impacted stores remains premature. “A comprehensive damage evaluation will be performed upon completion of the cooling process,” he elaborated.
Fire department personnel stated that a cooling operation is currently underway to avert the potential for reignition. Water tankers previously dispatched by the Water Corporation are present at the scene to facilitate this activity.
Earlier, an emergency status was activated at the NEPA hydrant to secure an uninterrupted water supply for firefighting.
“Due to the rapid response, the fire was prevented from extending into the car parking areas and the office floors above,” a fire brigade representative stated. Several vehicles parked within the premises were safely moved, and there have been no reports of injuries.
Earlier, rescue personnel employed a snorkel device to extract individuals stranded on the building’s roof. The heavy smoke accumulation within the building created obstacles for the rescue attempts; however, all entrapped individuals have since been safely rescued.
Authorities maintained a closure on the adjacent roadway to permit emergency personnel sufficient space to proceed with their operations. Law enforcement and Rangers remain on location to guarantee public safety.
