Theft at KMC Parks Department: WWII Memorial Shields Stolen
Valuable artifacts, including rare World War II memorial shields, were reported stolen from the Director General’s office of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Parks Department, located in Frere Hall. Officials verified the incident on Saturday.
The deputy director of the Parks Department has filed a first information report (FIR) at the Artillery Maidan Police Station regarding the burglary.
According to the FIR, the office was secured at 10 p.m. on July 4, in observance of the Ashura holidays. Upon returning on July 7, staff discovered a breached rear window and the absence of several items.
Among the missing items are five World War II memorial shields, along with a DVD player, a speaker system, and multiple water taps.
The KMC has acknowledged the occurrence and has instructed the Parks Department to promptly provide a detailed account of the event.
Law enforcement has stated that efforts to identify and apprehend the culprits are underway, including the examination of CCTV recordings to aid in the ongoing investigation.
