Couple’s Murder Case: 11 Detained in Karachi

Authorities investigating the deaths of a couple discovered near Boat Basin have apprehended 11 individuals from Gujranwala, including the woman’s brother, according to DIG South Asad Raza on Wednesday.

Raza mentioned that the woman’s relatives are part of the ongoing investigation. He noted that the father of the deceased man, Sajid, has appealed for five individuals to be named in the legal case. A formal murder report has been filed at Boat Basin Police Station against unnamed suspects.

Earlier in the week, law enforcement officials found the bodies of a man and a woman bearing gunshot wounds in the vicinity of the China Port area of Karachi. Preliminary findings showed that both individuals died from gunshot injuries. Upon reaching the location, Boat Basin police contacted the Crime Scene Unit, which recovered a mobile phone from the male victim and two 9mm bullet casings.

The deceased were identified as Sajid and a woman from the same Gujranwala village. Their bodies were transported to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for required procedures. Detectives learned that the pair had left their residence on July 15 with intentions of marriage.

The woman’s family had previously reported an abduction case against Sajid and his friend Ehtesham at the Tatlay Aali police station in Gujranwala. Sajid’s family reportedly left their village following the couple’s disappearance.

DIG Raza indicated the possibility of an honor killing, suggesting potential involvement of close family members. He verified that Waqas, the deceased woman’s brother, is currently in police custody in Gujranwala.

This incident follows the discovery of model and actress Humaira Asghar Ali’s remains in her Defence apartment in Karachi. The investigation into her cause of death remains unresolved nearly two weeks later.

Recent chemical analysis has excluded toxic substances, leaving the circumstances of her death unclear.
