Arsenal’s Kai Havertz Faces Knee Injury Setback
Arsenal forward Kai Havertz sustained a knee injury and is expected to be sidelined for an unspecified duration, according to international reports on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that Havertz was also absent during Arsenal’s public training session held at Emirates Stadium this Wednesday.
The 26-year-old is currently undergoing evaluation, and the club is awaiting further updates to ascertain the length of his absence.
This setback occurs while Gabriel Jesus remains out of action following knee surgery in January, potentially posing a significant challenge for Arsenal.
Arsenal may consider utilizing newly acquired Viktor Gyokeres to compensate for Havertz’s absence, although Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have previously fulfilled similar roles.
Sources suggest that Arsenal is contemplating whether to explore the transfer market for a replacement or rely on existing squad options.
Arsenal has reportedly shown interest in Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze; however, Tottenham Hotspur appears to be the leading contender for his signature.
Eze participated in Crystal Palace’s recent 0-0 draw against Chelsea, playing for 84 minutes, during which he scored a free-kick that was later disallowed by VAR.
Following the match, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner acknowledged the expiration of Eze’s clause and indicated that the club would determine the next steps.
Glasner stated that Eze would return to Crystal Palace’s training ground for recovery, followed by a day off, with expectations of his return for the match against Fredrikstad.
Glasner conveyed a sense of calm but acknowledged the remaining two weeks and the club’s ultimate decision regarding Eze’s future.
Arsenal has also been linked to Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, who is reportedly a target for Liverpool in a potential big-money transfer.
During Arsenal’s mid-season training camp in Dubai in February, Kai Havertz experienced a hamstring injury but made a strong recovery following an intensive program.
The German international also featured in the final 30 minutes of Sunday’s 1-0 victory against Manchester United.
