Paul Claims ‘Flawless’ Performance After Victory Over Chavez Jr.
ANAHEIM: Jake Paul’s boxing career reached a new high on Saturday as he secured a decisive unanimous decision victory against former WBC middleweight titleholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The match took place at the Honda Center in a cruiserweight division contest.
The judges’ scorecards read 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92, all in favor of Paul, underscoring his dominance throughout the fight against the seasoned Mexican competitor.
This win marks the most significant achievement in Paul’s boxing journey, showcasing considerable enhancements in his skills, endurance, and tactical awareness within the ring.
In his post-fight comments, Paul acknowledged Chavez Jr.’s tenacity and celebrated his established reputation, recognizing the inherent resilience of Mexican boxers.
He also expressed his deep respect for Mexico and its rich boxing legacy.
“He’s a tough competitor, and he has never been defeated. He embodies the spirit of a Mexican warrior. I deeply respect Mexican warriors and the nation of Mexico. However, I am a warrior myself, and I emerged victorious this evening,” Paul stated.
Paul characterized his own showing as ‘flawless,’ asserting he was scarcely touched during the entirety of the 10-round confrontation. He emphasized that enduring the full distance against a former world champion, while avoiding substantial harm, validated his consistent improvement as a boxer.
“I believe I only absorbed approximately ten blows. He was simply trying to survive in there. I felt my performance was outstanding—completing 10 rounds against a former world champion who has battled opponents such as Canelo. I outperformed him significantly tonight,” Paul remarked.
Paul articulated his ambition to face more challenging adversaries and his readiness to advance to the subsequent stage of his career. He mentioned several potential opponents, including Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, Badou Jack, and his longtime adversary, Tommy Fury.
“‘Zurdo’ appeared sluggish this evening—making him an easy challenge. My preference is Badou Jack. Tommy Fury is also an option. Tommy, cease avoiding me,” he concluded.
