Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar addressed the permanent representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in New York. During his speech, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to advancing the collective objectives of the OIC at the United Nations.

Support for Palestine and Call for Peace

Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to achieving a just and lasting peace in Palestine. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, uninterrupted humanitarian aid, and strongly opposed any forced displacement of Palestinian people. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the two-state solution, advocating for an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.

Kashmir Issue and Pakistan’s Stance

The Foreign Minister expressed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people. He urged the international community to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Commitment to Global Peace and Conflict Resolution

He also reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to peaceful conflict resolution in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Stressing the importance of adherence to the UN Charter, Dar emphasized Pakistan’s role in promoting diplomatic solutions to ongoing disputes.

Addressing Islamophobia

Highlighting the urgent need to combat Islamophobia, Ishaq Dar called for immediate measures, including the swift appointment of a UN Special Envoy to address this growing issue. He underscored Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with all OIC member states to ensure effective global action against Islamophobia.

Pakistan’s Role in the UN Security Council

Dar assured that during its tenure as a UN Security Council member, Pakistan will work closely with OIC nations to uphold collective interests and address challenges facing the Muslim world.
