Islamabad Bans Plastic Horns Ahead of Independence Day
The Islamabad administration has prohibited the sale and usage of plastic horns, commonly known as ‘bajay,’ within the federal capital as Independence Day celebrations approach.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon announced on X that authorities are instructed to seize all such items from stalls throughout the city.
All assistant commissioners and magistrates were directed to immediately commence field operations to enforce the imposed ban.
The deputy commissioner cautioned that any officer found to be negligent, or whose area contains stalls selling the prohibited items, will be held accountable.
Officers have been directed to conduct daily operations until August 14 to uphold public order and prevent disturbances related to noise during the Independence Day festivities.
Traditionally, numerous shops and temporary stalls across the country sell vuvuzelas, whistles, and various Independence Day-themed items leading up to August 14.
Vuvuzelas, often utilized during sporting events and national holidays, are notable for generating significant noise levels.
These horns are especially favored by children during Independence Day celebrations but have increasingly raised concerns regarding noise pollution and maintaining public order.
