ISLAMABAD: As Muharram-ul-Haram commences, Islamabad Police has ramped up efforts to provide comprehensive security across the federal capital, ensuring safe and peaceful observance of religious gatherings.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, along with SSP Operations, Muhammad Shoaib Khan, visited various Imambargahs and routes of Muharram processions to inspect and review the security arrangements. The senior officers directed all personnel deployed in the field to remain on high alert and maintain tight coordination.
According to police sources, all procession routes will be completely sealed off, equipped with proper lighting, and monitored under strict implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) specific to Muharram.
DIG Islamabad reiterated that the Islamabad Police is fully committed to maintaining a foolproof security structure throughout the sacred month. Zonal SDPOs and SHOs have been instructed to stay active in the field and ensure direct oversight of all processions and majalis.
“Special attention is being paid to promote inter-sect harmony and religious tolerance,” said DIG Jawad Tariq. “We will ensure uninterrupted security and peace in the capital in line with the vision of IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.”
Under IGP Rizvi’s leadership, Islamabad Police has prioritized community engagement, vigilance, and religious harmony, especially during sensitive times such as Muharram.
The authorities have also urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activities to help maintain peace during this holy period.
