Independence Day Celebrations Underway Across Pakistan
The primary event commemorating Pakistan’s Independence Day, coupled with the Marka-e-Haq observance, is currently in progress at Islamabad’s Jinnah Sports Stadium. President Asif Ali Zardari is presiding over the ceremony as the chief guest.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, alongside the chiefs of the three armed forces in addition to both national and international figures are present.
The program includes a parade by the armed forces and an aerial display. The prime minister will also inaugurate the Marka-e-Haq Monument, created to celebrate Pakistan’s triumph against India during the May conflict.
At Shakarparian Parade Ground, the public can view military airplanes, tanks, artillery systems, radar equipment and diverse weaponry employed during the conflict.
Earlier, the National Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution that honored the nation’s martyrs and reiterated a firm determination to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and independence at any cost.
Nationwide festivities have commenced, marked by streets, communities, and urban centers lavishly decorated with the national flag’s green and white hues.
In Punjab, multiple rallies and celebratory gatherings took place in Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Jhang, Narowal, amongst other cities.
Sukkur, Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Thatta, including Badin all experienced lively observances in Sindh, while Balochistan held processions in Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Sibi, Bolan, Sohbatpur, Lehri, and Gwadar, alongside other municipalities.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa witnessed a unique Independence Day celebration tailored for its minority communities at the Mardan Commissioner’s Office, and Karak saw preparations reach their peak.
In Azad Kashmir, vibrant events were hosted at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir located in Muzaffarabad, accompanied by a ‘Martyrs’ Honour March’ in Mirpur.
