Islamabad Court Grants Remand in Illegal Call Center Case
An Islamabad district and sessions court has approved a two-day physical remand for five foreign citizens who are suspected of running an unlawful call center located in the G-10 sector of the capital.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) presented the individuals before the court.
According to the NCCIA, a recent raid on the call center revealed a deceptive online operation, allegedly managed by the five foreign suspects. The operation also employed over 60 Pakistani citizens.
During the court session, the prosecuting attorney asserted that the defendants were part of a structured network engaged in online fraud through illicit websites. The prosecutor requested physical custody, stating, “Further questioning of the suspects is required.”
The court granted the prosecution’s request and instructed the authorities to bring the foreign citizens back on July 16.
An NCCIA spokesperson verified the arrests made during the G-10 raid, adding that measures will also be taken against those who aided and protected the suspects within Pakistan.
