Discussions Ongoing for Potential Rescheduling of PCB and Cricket Ireland Series
LAHORE: Sources indicate that the Ireland men’s cricket team’s tour to Pakistan for the white-ball series is facing potential changes to its original schedule.
Initially, Ireland was set to visit Pakistan for a series featuring three ODIs and three T20Is in September-October. However, the tour might be moved to the subsequent season, given that neither of the cricket boards has released any official statements about the scheduled matches.
Sources suggest that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Ireland are currently engaged in discussions regarding the possibility of rescheduling the series.
The specific reasons prompting the potential rescheduling between the two cricket teams have not been disclosed.
Currently, the national team is participating in a white-ball tour in the West Indies, which includes a series of three T20I matches and three ODI matches.
The Green Shirts began the T20I series successfully, defeating the West Indies by 14 runs in the opening match held in Florida, which will also host the remaining two matches on Saturday and Sunday.
Following the T20Is, both teams will compete in a three-match ODI series at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago, with matches scheduled for August 8, 10, and 12.
Afterward, the national men’s team will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in a T20I tri-series that includes Afghanistan.
The tri-series is scheduled from August 29 to September 7 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE.
This series will be an important preparatory event for all three teams before the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup, also scheduled in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
