Daniyal sidelined from Top End T20 Series due to Thumb Injury
LAHORE: Pakistan Shaheens’ pace bowler Ahmed Daniyal will not participate in the ongoing Top End T20 Series in Darwin, Australia, because of an injury, sources have confirmed.
Reportedly, Daniyal sustained an injury to his right thumb during fielding practice before the start of the series. Consequently, he was absent from Pakistan Shaheens’ initial two matches against Bangladesh ‘A’ and Perth Scorchers.
The latest updates indicate that the 28-year-old is now ruled out for the remainder of the 11-team tournament. Discussions are in progress regarding the selection and travel arrangements for his replacement to join the squad in Australia.
Sources also revealed that Ahmed Daniyal was being considered for the upcoming T20I tri-series featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), scheduled from August 29 to September 7.
Pakistan Shaheens have had mixed results in the Top End T20 Series, securing a significant 79-run victory against Bangladesh ‘A’ in their opening match, followed by a narrow two-wicket loss to the Scorchers.
Their next game is scheduled for Monday at the TIO Stadium against Melbourne Renegades.
