Indian Border Security Force Soldier Apprehended by Pakistan Rangers
Reports from Indian media indicate that Pakistan Rangers took an Indian Border Security Force (BSF) soldier into custody on Thursday in Punjab.
The soldier was reportedly taken into custody after he inadvertently crossed into Pakistani territory.
Indian media sources identified the detained trooper as Constable P K Singh, belonging to the 182nd battalion of the BSF, and stated that he was apprehended in the Ferozepur region.
According to reports, Singh unintentionally crossed the border fence during a routine movement and was subsequently detained by Pakistan Rangers across the Ferozepur border.
This incident occurs amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations, following an attack targeting tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOJK).
In response to escalatory measures by New Delhi, the National Security Committee (NSC) has cautioned that any attempt by India to divert water flow rightfully belonging to Pakistan will be viewed as an act of aggression.
This warning follows India’s choice to put the Indus Water Treaty on hold, which has been in place for six decades, along with other actions taken against Pakistan after the recent attack on tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The attack on Tuesday resulted in the loss of 26 lives, including a Nepali citizen. The Indian government attributes the attack to Pakistan, a claim that Islamabad has strongly refuted, labeling it a “false flag operation.”
The NSC has also asserted that Pakistan may consider suspending all bilateral agreements with India, encompassing the Simla Agreement, until India ceases its alleged support for terrorism within Pakistan, transnational killings, and non-compliance with international law and UN Resolutions concerning Kashmir.
