Security Forces Eliminate Terrorists in Balochistan Operation
KHUZDAR: During an intelligence-led operation in the Zehri region of Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, security forces neutralized seven terrorists on Tuesday. Sources within the security apparatus confirmed that these individuals were backed by foreign entities.
The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of insurgents. According to sources, the operation resulted in the elimination of seven insurgents, with ten others suffering injuries.
Authorities also confiscated a cache of equipment from the deceased insurgents, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), communication devices, and automatic weapons of American origin. Additional materials seized included grenades, ammunition, and motorcycles.
Sources further revealed that security personnel successfully defused an IED that had been strategically placed by the insurgents near the Badukash bridge. The operation employed both ground forces and aerial support.
This recent Khuzdar operation follows a similar incident on September 18, where four insurgents were eliminated in the same district.
Earlier this year, in May, the government officially designated all terrorist organizations operating within Balochistan under a specific classification.
The nation has experienced an increase in cross-border terrorist activities since the establishment of the Taliban government in Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
A report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) indicated that militant activities rose by 74% in August compared to July. The Islamabad-based research organization documented 194 fatalities resulting from these attacks during the specified month.
Separately, an explosion occurred near the Frontier Corps headquarters on Zarghoon Road in Quetta, resulting in casualties and injuries.
