Nitish Kumar Reddy Ruled Out, Arshdeep Singh to Miss Fourth Test

MANCHESTER: Due to a left knee injury, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy from India will be absent for the rest of the five-match Test series. Additionally, Arshdeep Singh will be unavailable for the fourth Test after suffering an impact injury to his left thumb.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has verified that Reddy, aged 22, will be returning to his home country for further medical evaluation and care.

Reddy participated in India’s starting XI for the second and third Tests held at Edgbaston and Lord’s, where he made significant contributions with both his batting and bowling skills.

In the meantime, left-arm pacer Arshdeep sustained his injury while practicing bowling in the nets during a training session held in Beckenham. The BCCI medical staff is actively overseeing his rehabilitation.

As a safety measure and to provide injury cover, pacer Anshul Kamboj, who recently made a strong impression during the India A tour of England, has joined the senior team in Manchester.

It’s worth noting that England defeated India by a close 22-run margin in the third Test of the five-match series at Lord’s last week.

While pursuing a target of 193, India’s batting order collapsed, scoring only 170 runs, despite a strong half-century from Ravindra Jadeja in the lower order.

England’s captain, Ben Stokes, was awarded Player of the Match due to his exceptional all-around performance.

Following this victory, England now leads the series with a score of 2-1. The fourth Test is scheduled to take place at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23 to 27.
