In a significant development for the ongoing investigation into the recent Air India plane crash, India has decided to send the aircraft’s black box to the United States for detailed analysis. The crucial device sustained severe external damage from the post-crash fire, making it impossible to extract its vital data within India.

The black box comprises two essential components: the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder. Both are instrumental in providing crash investigators with critical insights into the circumstances leading to the incident.

The data extraction process will be conducted at the National Transportation Safety Board’s (NTSB) specialized laboratory in Washington. Once the information is retrieved, it will be shared directly with India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the crash.
