ISLAMABAD – June 24, 2025: In a strategic move to ensure foolproof security during Muharram-ul-Haram, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has constituted special security, monitoring, and vigilance teams for the federal capital.
An official notification was issued regarding the formation of these teams, which are tasked with safeguarding religious processions and gatherings while ensuring public facilitation.
To enhance coordination and effectiveness, Islamabad has been divided into five security divisions, each assigned to high-ranking police officials:
- Rural Division: Overseen by DG Safe City Shakir Hussain Dawar and AIG Logistics Abdul Haq Umarani
- I-9 Division: Supervised by DIG Law and Order Muhammad Atiq Tahir and AIG Operations Arsalan Shahzeb
- City Division: Managed by DIG Security Syed Ali Raza and SSP CTD Hamza Humayun
- Saddar Division: Handled by SSP Safe City Muhammad Iqbal and DSP ARF Ghulam Mustafa
- Sohan Division: Monitored by AIG Establishment/Investigations Syed Enayat Ali Shah and SSP Shams-ul-Haq Durrani
IGP Rizvi emphasized that ensuring the safety of all processions and gatherings is the top priority of Islamabad Police. He assured that security teams will not only focus on surveillance and protection but also on facilitating citizens with organized parking arrangements and smooth traffic flow.
“Our mission is to ensure complete protection for the people of Islamabad. We urge citizens to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activity through the emergency helpline Call 15,” said IGP Rizvi.
This proactive initiative reflects IGP Rizvi’s commitment to secure religious harmony and public peace during the sacred month, through organized coordination and community engagement.
