ICC Announces Nominees for Men’s Player of the Month Award
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the contenders for the Men’s Player of the Month Award for August 2025, featuring India’s talented fast bowler, Mohammed Siraj.
Siraj, who played a key role in India’s drawn Test series against England, will be up against New Zealand’s experienced bowler Matt Henry and West Indies’ Jayden Seales for the coveted title.
Henry’s stellar performance guided the Black Caps to a 2-0 Test series victory in Zimbabwe, while Seales was crucial in West Indies’ historic ODI series win against Pakistan.
Although Siraj participated in only one international match – the Oval Test in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy – his remarkable display secured his nomination for this prestigious recognition.
Stepping up in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, the right-arm pacer spearheaded India’s bowling attack, claiming nine wickets at an impressive average of 21.11, leading his team to a crucial victory that leveled the series.
Mohammed Siraj showcased his prowess by taking four wickets in the initial innings and followed it up with an outstanding five-wicket haul in the subsequent innings, earning him the Player of the Match title.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Henry, recognized as the Player of the Series for his exceptional 16 wickets at an astonishing average of just 9.12 during their victorious series against Zimbabwe, has also been nominated for the award.
Henry dismantled Zimbabwe’s batting lineup in the series opener, achieving remarkable bowling figures of 6/39 in the first innings and adding three more wickets in the second. His match figures of 9/90 earned him the Player of the Match award.
He sustained his form in the following match, securing another five-wicket haul in the first innings. The right-arm pacer contributed two more wickets in the second innings, leading New Zealand to a dominant 359-run triumph.
West Indies’ Seales also made a significant impact last month, capturing 10 wickets in three matches during their ODI series victory against Pakistan, a feat they achieved after 34 years.
Seales experienced a mixed start to the series, securing only one wicket in the opening match while conceding 59 runs as Pakistan secured an easy win.
However, the right-arm pacer rebounded impressively in the following match, claiming three crucial wickets, including the prized scalps of Babar Azam and Saim Ayub, thus helping West Indies push the series to a decisive match.
Seales achieved his career-best bowling figures of 6/18 in the third and final ODI of the series, which stands as the third-best performance by a West Indies bowler in this format.
Consequently, the emerging pacer concluded the series with 10 wickets at an average of just 10 and an impressive economy rate of 4.10.
