Taira to now face Park after Albazi withdraws from UFC Fight Night
Flyweight contender Tatsuro Taira is now slated to compete against HyunSung Park in the headline event of UFC Fight Night this Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. This change comes after Amir Albazi’s withdrawal due to an undisclosed injury.
Taira was initially prepared to battle Albazi, but the promotion made it official on Monday that Albazi was off the card, citing reasons related to an injury without providing specifics.
Park, the undefeated Road to UFC flyweight tournament victor, is stepping in as his replacement.
Park was originally scheduled to challenge Steve Erceg on August 9 but will now be competing a week earlier, signifying a considerable alteration in the fight card.
Taira, currently holding the No. 6 spot in the UFC flyweight division, is aiming to recover following his first career defeat to Brandon Royval last October.
Park, who joined the UFC in 2023, has had a remarkable beginning, concluding three straight fights inside the Octagon. He is currently on a nine-fight finishing streak that goes back to 2018.
UFC officials released a statement, noting that modifications were implemented because of the injury, stating that Albazi was removed and replaced by Tatsuro Taira.
Official Statement
“Due to injury, please note the following changes,” according to an official UFC statement.
“Amir Albazi has been removed from his flyweight main event bout with Tatsuro Taira. The undefeated Road to UFC flyweight tournament winner, Hyun Sung Park, will take Albazi’s place in the new main event as he seeks to extend his nine-fight finishing streak.”
