Karachi Schools to Close Due to Heavy Rain Forecast

Due to predictions of substantial monsoon rains, all educational institutions throughout Karachi will be closed on Wednesday, as declared by the local government.

The decision follows an official announcement from the Karachi commissioner, citing expected widespread rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms. This closure affects all educational facilities, both public and private, located within the Karachi Division.

The notification specified that the Sindh government has declared Wednesday, September 10, 2025, a holiday for educational institutions, considering the anticipated heavy monsoon rains and the weather advisory from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). All educational institutions will remain shut within Karachi Division’s jurisdiction.

On Tuesday, intermittent rainfall kept Karachi damp under overcast skies. Weather forecasts indicate a new spell of rain is expected within the next 24 to 48 hours, heightening the potential for urban flooding.

The PMD has cautioned that moderate to heavy rainfall may persist until late at night, with the possibility of very heavy downpours as a significant monsoon system maintains its intensity as a deep depression over land.

Traffic authorities have urged commuters to exercise increased caution, advising them to reduce their speed and maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles.
