Kings Restrict Gladiators with Strong Bowling Display

Karachi Kings showcased an impressive bowling display, limiting Quetta Gladiators to a total of 142 runs in 19.3 overs. This occurred during the 15th match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, held at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

After being put into bat, the Gladiators faced difficulties early in their innings. Skipper Saud Shakeel was removed for only six runs by Hasan Ali, the Kings’ vice-captain, leaving the score at 7-1 in the second over.

Hasan’s dominant spell continued as he dismissed Finn Allen for a duck in the same over, intensifying the pressure on the Gladiators.

Rilee Rossouw attempted to provide stability but his efforts were cut short, falling as Hasan Ali’s third wicket, with the score then at 20-3 in the fourth over.

Quetta’s struggles deepened when Mohammad Nabi claimed Mark Chapman’s wicket for four, reducing the Gladiators to 44-4 by the end of the powerplay (6th over).

Kusal Mendis offered some resistance, forming a 25-run partnership with Hassan Nawaz. Mendis scored a rapid 36 off 22 balls, including five boundaries. However, Abbas Afridi brought his innings to an end in the ninth over, leaving Quetta at 69-5.

Hassan Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf then combined for a significant 59-run partnership for the sixth wicket, providing Quetta with some hope.

Fawad Ali then broke the partnership, securing his first PSL wicket by dismissing Nawaz for 35 off 34 balls, with the score at 128-6 in the 17th over.

Karachi Kings maintained their pressure in the final overs. Mir Hamza bowled a precise yorker to dismiss Mohammad Wasim Jr at 131-7 in the 18th over, and then took the wicket of Mohammad Amir on the following delivery, who also was out for a duck.

Faheem Ashraf contributed a quickfire 43 off 26 balls before being dismissed by Abbas Afridi in the 19th over, leaving Quetta at 139-9.

The innings concluded in 19.3 overs when Khurram Shahzad was run out by Hasan Ali with an assist from Tim Seifert.

Hasan Ali was the standout bowler for the Kings, taking three wickets. Mir Hamza and Abbas Afridi each claimed two wickets, while Mohammad Nabi and Fawad Ali each took one.
