Haris Lauds Zalmi’s Batting Lineup, Backs Top Order
LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi’s wicketkeeper-batter, Mohammad Haris, expressed his support for the team’s opening batsmen, Babar Azam and Saim Ayub, amidst their recent struggles. He voiced confidence in their ability to regain form as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 progresses.
Speaking to the media, Haris commended the well-established partnership of Babar and Ayub, emphasizing their consistent performance over the previous two PSL seasons.
“Our top order has consistently ranked among the league’s best for the past couple of years,” Haris stated.
“Saim Ayub and Babar have demonstrated exceptional cricket skills. The team and management have unwavering faith in their capabilities. While external doubts may arise, we, within the team, wholeheartedly support them,” he added.
The 24-year-old further noted the team’s confidence in their openers to perform when it matters most, particularly as they approach the playoff stages.
“As we get closer to the crucial phase of the competition, I am certain that both will step up,” he added.
Regarding playing conditions, Haris mentioned that the pitches are becoming drier due to the increasing heat; however, local players are accustomed to such conditions.
“The weather does not pose a significant problem for us. While overseas players might find it more challenging, we are used to it.”
Addressing speculations about a possible rivalry with Shaheen Afridi, Haris clarified, “Shaheen is like a brother to me. Competing intensely against skilled bowlers does not indicate a rivalry.”
He also recognized outstanding performers in the current PSL 10, such as Sahibzada Farhan, Ubaid Shah, Ali Raza, and Maaz Khan, identifying them as promising prospects for Pakistan.
Mohammad Haris also acknowledged the valuable contributions of mentors like Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Ahmed, and James Foster within the team structure.
“Everyone in our management is supportive. Zalmi stands by its players, regardless of their seniority,” he added.
Regarding his own role, Haris stated that he is currently batting at number four and is willing to adapt as needed.
“I am prepared to play wherever the team requires me—whether at four, five, or six,” he concluded.
