Fury Challenges Usyk After Dubois Victory, Confirms Return
Following Oleksandr Usyk’s triumph over Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, British boxer Tyson Fury has publicly challenged the undisputed heavyweight champion. Usyk secured a fifth-round knockout against Dubois, Fury’s countryman.
Fury had previously declared his retirement from boxing in January 2025, subsequent to his second defeat by Usyk. That match saw Usyk crowned as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.
Earlier this month, boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh from Saudi Arabia revealed that Fury is anticipated to emerge from retirement and make his return to the ring during Riyadh Season 2026. Fury substantiated Alalshikh’s announcement with a social media post confirming his comeback.
On Instagram, Fury posted a promotional image with the caption: “April 18, 2026 Wembley Stadium. The trilogy! UK. contact @spencerbrownmrgoldstar for tickets.”
In a recent Instagram video, Fury asserted that he is the only fighter capable of defeating Usyk, referencing Usyk’s victory over Dubois. “Massive shout-out to Oleksandr Usyk. He put on a tremendous performance tonight over Daniel Dubois. But he knows there is only one man who can beat him. I did it twice before and the world knows it,” stated Fury.
Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, acknowledged that the British heavyweight is eager for a third match against Usyk, but verified that WBO mandatory challenger Joseph Parker is next to fight Usyk. “Tyson has expressed clearly his desire to fight at Wembley,“ Warren commented. “But Joe Parker deserves his shot.”
Usyk has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first boxer to secure undisputed champion status for a third time. His previous wins were at cruiserweight (2018) and heavyweight (2024).
In their recent rematch, Oleksandr Usyk showcased dominance throughout the initial four rounds and knocked down Dubois early in the fifth. He then defeated his British opponent with a left hook later in the round, winning in front of approximately 90,000 spectators.
