Federal Government to Transform Frontier Constabulary into National Force
The federal government has resolved to transform the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into a “nationwide federal force” with operational capabilities extended to all provinces and territories, according to sources.
Currently, the FC is administered by the federal government under the Frontier Constabulary Act of 1915. Headquartered in Peshawar, the force is commanded by a BS-21 rank police officer and is authorized for deployment across Pakistan to enhance security and administration.
Sources indicate that the restructured entity will be known as the “Federal Constabulary” and will be authorized to operate in all provinces, including Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The formalization of this transformation will involve revisions to the Frontier Constabulary Act of 1915. These amendments are anticipated to gain approval from the federal cabinet.
Following the cabinet’s approval, a presidential ordinance will be promulgated to broaden the FC’s jurisdiction nationwide, sources added.
As part of the reorganization strategy, recruitment for the new “Federal Constabulary” will be conducted on a national scale, with offices established throughout the country.
Insiders familiar with the restructuring plan have stated that the force will be under the command of officers from the Police Service of Pakistan.
The new Federal Constabulary will enlist individuals from all regions of the country, and regional offices will be established nationwide as part of the reorganization process.
