Fritz to battle Shelton in an All-American Semifinal

Taylor Fritz, the American tennis professional, recently shared his views on the playing conditions, specifically the court and the tennis balls being used at the Canadian Open, according to international reports on Wednesday.

The current tournament is taking place at the TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course), situated in Caledon, Ontario.

Fritz has earned his spot in the National Bank Open’s semifinal round after his victory over Andrey Rublev on Tuesday, with a score of 6-3, 7-6(7).

Following his win, Taylor attended a press conference where he spoke about his experience with the court and ball conditions.

“I believe it’s a combination of both the court and the balls. If we were using a different ball, like the Dunlop ball, it wouldn’t be as challenging. The Dunlop ball is much softer, resulting in greater deceleration upon hitting the court. Additionally, it provides more control when making contact with the racket,” Taylor Fritz explained.

Taylor Fritz noted that his performance felt improved on Tuesday, but he had struggled with the conditions during the majority of his matches.

“The combination of these balls on a fast-paced court results in unattractive tennis, which is simply the reality. Tonight was the most manageable I’ve felt all week,” Fritz added.

“It was the most control I’ve experienced this week. However, in many previous matches, I was missing shots that seemed unbelievable, and at times, I struggled to even make contact with the ball.”

Fritz is scheduled to compete against Ben Shelton in an all-American semifinal match on August 7, held at the Centre Court.
