Warren Details Plans for Itauma and Chisora’s Upcoming Bouts
Frank Warren has announced his strategies for Moses Itauma and Derek Chisora, who are slated to appear on the same fight card on December 13 in Manchester.
The boxing promoter mentioned that he’s still arranging an opponent for heavyweight veteran Chisora, in what might be his farewell appearance before retirement.
“The situation is still developing. It’s something we’re working to finalize,” Warren commented.
“We are still in the preliminary stages before making a formal announcement. While we have several exciting events on the horizon, I cannot disclose specific details at this time. An initial opponent was considered, but is no longer an option.
“Therefore, we are actively searching for a suitable replacement.”
Chisora, currently ranked No. 2 by the IBF, has revitalized his career with victories over Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin in his most recent contests.
There has been speculation about Chisora potentially facing Deontay Wilder and Daniel Dubois in his 50th fight. However, Warren has refuted these rumors, citing Dubois’ injury and confirming that Wilder is not part of his plans.
Commentators suggest Warren faces challenges in providing Itauma with the necessary in-ring experience prior to a potential world heavyweight title opportunity in the near future.
Regarding the young heavyweight prospect, Warren stated that potential opponents are either declining the fight against Moses Itauma or demanding exorbitant fees to avoid potential defeat.
“That’s the approach some fighters take, while others price themselves out of contention with unreasonable demands, making the fight economically unfeasible,” Warren explained.
“Of course, there are individuals interested in fighting him, and we are currently in discussions with a few. We have consistently delivered for him thus far, and we will continue to do so by the end of the year.”
Itauma, considered a rising star in the heavyweight division, secured a victory against Dillian Whyte on August 16 in Saudi Arabia.
