Postecoglou Takes the Helm at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest has officially announced the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach, succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo. The Premier League team made the announcement on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that Postecoglou has agreed to a contract set to run until June 2027.

The dismissal of Espirito Santo occurred on Monday, with reports suggesting his relationship with the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, had deteriorated last month.

Marinakis commented on the appointment, stating that they are bringing in a coach celebrated for a history of securing titles.

“We are bringing in a coach celebrated for a history of securing titles,” Marinakis noted in a statement regarding Postecoglou’s arrival.

“His extensive experience coaching at the highest levels, along with his ambition to forge something special with Forest, positions him as an excellent choice to aid us in our journey and consistently realize our ambitions.”

Postecoglou, originally from Greece and a former Australian international, was let go by Tottenham Hotspur in June following a two-season tenure. During his time there, he guided them to their first major trophy since 2008, claiming the UEFA Europa League in May with a victory over Manchester United in the final.

In Postecoglou’s initial season, Tottenham Hotspur secured fifth place in the Premier League but subsequently fell to 17th last season. This marked the London club’s poorest league performance since 1977, when they faced relegation.

Postecoglou’s first match as Forest’s manager is slated for Saturday against Arsenal.
