Efforts Underway to Evacuate Former Senator Detained by Israeli Forces

The Foreign Office stated on Monday that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is exerting ‘continuous efforts’ to ensure the evacuation of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad, who was apprehended by Israeli forces during the Gaza aid flotilla’s interception.

According to a press statement released by the FO, ‘The Foreign Ministry, through its Embassy in Amman, is working persistently to guarantee the secure repatriation of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan.’

The ministry expressed optimism that the process for the former legislator’s return would be finalized within the ‘coming days,’ aided by the Jordanian government.

‘We are hopeful that the procedure can be successfully concluded shortly, thanks to the invaluable support of the Jordanian government,’ the FO added.

‘We extend our sincere gratitude to the government of Jordan for its exceptional collaboration and generous assistance.’

Previously, on Sunday, the FO communicated that Pakistan was actively collaborating with international partners to safeguard its citizens and facilitate their return.

A press statement mentioned, ‘We have verified, through diplomatic channels of a friendly European nation, that former senator Mushtaq Ahmed is in the custody of Israeli forces and is in good condition.’

Furthermore, Pakistani officials were informed that the former senator would appear before a court, and upon the issuance of deportation orders, his repatriation would be expedited on a ‘priority basis.’

Ahmed was taken into custody by Israeli forces while participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla on October 2. The flotilla’s vessels were transporting aid to the territory under Israeli blockade.

The former senator, leading a five-member Pakistani delegation, joined the flotilla alongside global activists and humanitarian groups.

However, the Israeli military intercepted over 40 flotilla vessels, approximately 42.5 nautical miles (79 km) from Gaza, and detained over 450 activists on board.

Since then, Tel Aviv has encountered widespread condemnation from various nations globally.
