Punjab Minister Claims Fast-Food Chain Attacks Were Organized

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari stated on Sunday that the recent wave of attacks targeting international fast-food franchises throughout the nation appears to be the result of a coordinated scheme.

During a press briefing held in Lahore, the provincial minister voiced strong condemnation for the assaults, emphasizing the destruction of private property.

“These fast-food chains employ 25,000 Pakistanis. Tragically, one Pakistani individual lost their life during these attacks,” Bokhari noted, highlighting the economic and human impact of the violence. She further asserted that the attacks in Punjab are being executed as part of an organized plan.

Bokhari issued a stern warning against any attempts to disrupt law and order. She also revealed that law enforcement has apprehended 149 individuals suspected of involvement in the attacks on these businesses.

“A violent faction is attacking Punjab,” the minister added.

Earlier, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry denounced the attacks on the food chains, assuring that the government will take resolute action against perpetrators.

Speaking to the press in Faisalabad, Chaudhry affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of investors in Pakistan. He said, “The state is aware of its responsibilities. It is unacceptable for investors in Pakistan to be subjected to such attacks.”

Referring to recent events, the minister disclosed that approximately 20 attacks primarily targeting foreign fast-food restaurants had transpired in various cities.

He mentioned that many of the apprehended attackers have expressed remorse and sought forgiveness for their actions. “Those arrested have shown regret and have apologized,” Talal stated.

The minister also pointed out that no political organization has claimed responsibility for or endorsed the violent acts, thus distancing themselves from the incidents.

A series of attacks targeting international food chain restaurants have occurred across Pakistan in recent days.
