Prime Minister Sharif Visits Doha to Show Support for Qatar
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif traveled to Doha on Thursday for a one-day visit to express solidarity with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. This visit follows recent Israeli airstrikes that targeted Hamas leadership in residential areas of Doha.
The Prime Minister’s delegation included key government figures such as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
During his stay, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to convey his support and that of the Pakistani people in light of what the Foreign Office described as unjustified Israeli aggression against Qatar and a violation of international law.
The Prime Minister intends to communicate that Pakistan and Qatar share deep, fraternal bonds founded on common faith and values, emphasizing that Pakistan has consistently supported Qatar during challenging periods and will continue to do so.
Discussions will encompass Israel’s recent attacks on various regional countries, its ongoing hostile actions, and collaborative efforts to foster regional peace.
This visit highlights Pakistan’s steadfast support for Qatar’s security and sovereignty, as well as its dedication to promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.
Pakistan has firmly condemned the Israeli military operation, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denouncing the assault as completely unjustified and a flagrant infringement of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity that jeopardizes regional peace and stability.
Reaffirming solidarity with the Qatari leadership, he stated that Pakistan stands resolutely with the State of Qatar, as well as with the people of Palestine, against Israel’s aggressive behavior.
Foreign Minister Dar echoed these sentiments, denouncing the strike as reprehensible and a clear breach of international law. He emphasized Pakistan’s steadfast support for the people and the State of Qatar during these difficult times.
Israel has confirmed conducting the strike, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating, “Israel initiated it, Israel conducted it, and Israel takes full responsibility.”
Qatar, which has long hosted Hamas’ political base, has strongly condemned the strike as cowardly, with its foreign ministry declaring it a blatant violation of international laws and norms that poses a severe threat to the safety of Qataris and residents.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani criticized Israel, stating that the recent strike in Doha has diminished prospects for hostage negotiations in Gaza and called for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be held accountable.
Sheikh Al Thani told CNN, “I think that what Netanyahu did, he just killed any hope for those hostages.”
