In a major operation, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Kohat Zone has arrested two operatives of an international human trafficking gang involved in the 2025 Libya boat tragedy.
Crackdown on Human Smugglers
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrested suspects were part of a network orchestrated from Italy, engaged in illegal human smuggling. The duo was captured in a raid conducted in Pusht Bazaar, Bajaur.
Authorities have frozen three bank accounts linked to the suspects, and with the help of Interpol, efforts are underway to apprehend more international human traffickers involved in the case.
Deportation and Past Tragedy
Meanwhile, 47 more Pakistani nationals have been deported from nine different countries due to illegal immigration attempts.
It is noteworthy that 14 individuals from Kurram lost their lives in the Libya boat tragedy. Reports indicate that victims were held in safe houses in Libya, where they faced inhumane treatment and torture before being forced onto the ill-fated vessel bound for Europe.
