FBR to Conduct Third-Party Audits of Tracking Services
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has resolved to execute third-party audits on the tracking services rendered by carriers and transport operators.
The FBR has officially released S.R.O. 609 (I) 2025, which disseminates a proposed revision in the Customs Rules, 2001, effective as of Thursday.
As per the notification, the Project Director will be responsible for arranging annual third-party audits and consistent monitoring of tracking services by an external entity. The resulting audit report will inform system improvements, incorporating necessary adjustments and remedies.
In prior practice, the Project Director was tasked with arranging yearly audits of the system. These reports were then utilized for system enhancements and the implementation of essential corrective measures.
The mandate for third-party audits and oversight of tracking services is now explicitly defined within the Customs Rules.
