FBR to Conduct Third-Party Audits of Tracking Services

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has resolved to implement third-party audits on the tracking services offered by carriers and transport operators.

The FBR has released S.R.O. 609 (I) 2025, which officially communicates the proposed revisions to the Customs Rules, 2001, effective Thursday.

As per the notification, the Project Director will oversee annual third-party audits of the system, along with routine third-party monitoring of tracking services. The resulting audit reports will inform improvements, corrections, and necessary actions related to the system.

Previously, the Project Director was responsible for arranging yearly audits of the system. These reports were then utilized to implement system enhancements and take corrective and remedial measures as needed.

The Customs Rules now explicitly specify the requirement for third-party audits and monitoring of tracking services.
