FBR Introduces Electronic Declarations for Tax Year 2025
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a novel “Electronic Foreign Income and Assets Declaration for Resident Individuals” applicable for the tax year 2025.
A distinct return form has also been formalized, specifically the “Electronic Return for Non-Resident Individuals with No Income Source in Pakistan”.
The FBR formally announced the declaration through the issuance of SRO. 1562(I)/2025 on Monday.
To facilitate this, the FBR has implemented revisions to the Income Tax Rules, 2002.
According to a notification from the FBR, a “Simplified Electronic Return for Individuals” has also been officially introduced.
Through SRO 1562 (I)/2025, the FBR has similarly released the finalized electronic income tax return forms for companies, associations of persons, and individual taxpayers for the 2025 tax year.
Within the framework of this notification, the FBR has additionally provided the final Electronic Return for manufacturers, Electronic Return for traders, and Electronic Return for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The FBR has circulated another S.R.O. 1561(I)/2025, which serves to notify the “Simplified Electronic Return for Individuals”.
Any modifications to the return within IRIS will be considered as consistently integrated; however, this will not negatively impact taxpayers who submitted returns before said alteration.
The FBR has stated that this notification will be effective for the tax year 2025.
