Shafi Aims to Collect PKR 5 Million for Flood-Stricken Communities

Faisal Shafi, a prominent Pakistani marathon runner celebrated for his numerous world records in international marathons, is preparing to participate in the Chicago Marathon with a purpose beyond personal success.

Shafi’s goal is to accumulate PKR 5 million to aid communities impacted by the severe floods in Pakistan.

The 43-year-old athlete stated that the funds will be gathered through contributions from donors and private individuals, then distributed to families affected by the floods via the United Nations relief program.

“This year, I am running for a meaningful cause in Chicago,” Shafi conveyed in a statement prior to his departure for the United States.

“Marathons are not only about individual achievement; they can also act as effective mediums for creating awareness and assisting those in need. Many of our fellow citizens are still experiencing hardship from the recent floods, making it our shared responsibility to provide support,” he emphasized.

Shafi has ensured that all funds will be managed with transparency and accountability to guarantee appropriate allocation.

The Chicago Marathon, recognized as one of the six major world marathon events, draws top-tier runners from all corners of the globe.

Earlier in the year, Shafi marked a milestone at the Sydney Marathon by becoming the first Pakistan-based runner to complete the ‘Seven Star’ challenge.

He also secured a Guinness World Record for achieving the fastest marathon time in a combat uniform, sporting a lightweight, military-inspired outfit to commemorate the accomplishment.
