Du Plessis Achieves Historic Milestone with Century

DALLAS: In a pivotal match against MI New York at Grand Prairie Stadium, Faf du Plessis delivered an exceptional performance for Texas Super Kings (TSK), scoring a remarkable century. This feat not only propelled his team but also etched his name in T20 cricket annals.

The seasoned 40-year-old South African batsman blasted 103 runs from merely 53 deliveries, which included five boundaries and nine maximums. This crucial victory has kept TSK in contention for a playoffs berth in the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) campaign.

Notably, this century marks du Plessis’s second in the current tournament, adding to his previous ton scored against the San Francisco Unicorns.

His recent innings establishes du Plessis as the first-ever T20 player to record two centuries past the age of 40, showcasing his unparalleled durability and exceptional batting skills.

Furthermore, he has now surpassed Babar Azam of Pakistan and Michael Klinger of Australia to claim the distinction of captain with the most T20 centuries, now totaling eight.

Most T20 Centuries as Captain:

Babar, a consistent performer across various global leagues, is recognized as a premier leader in this format. He has amassed seven centuries as captain while leading distinguished teams such as Pakistan, Karachi Kings, and Peshawar Zalmi.

Having scored over 5,200 runs in 144 matches as captain, the 30-year-old continues to assert his dominance in the shortest format of the game.

Faf du Plessis has also written his name into MLC history, holding the record for the most centuries in the league (3), surpassing New Zealand’s Finn Allen, who previously held the record with two.
